Fixes and upgrades straight from The Mechanic's shop — most of them started as reports from drivers like you.
This was the bad one. On some calls the caller could not hear the host, or the host could not hear the caller, and neither of you could tell which.
We chased it down over several nights of test shows and fixed it. We also added monitoring that watches every call for the same problem, so if it ever starts again we find out before you have to tell us.
If you called when the lines were closed, you used to sit there holding a line that was never going to be answered.
Now you hear a short message telling you when we are next on, and the call ends cleanly instead of leaving you hanging.
The stream now carries the show name with it, so your lock screen and your player show what you are listening to instead of a blank label.
Some days the live show would hitch for a moment and flip to the backup feed, usually right when it was busiest.
We traced it to our end rather than the stream provider and fixed it. The live feed stays put now.
If you were brought on the air while the intro music was still rolling, you used to hear nothing and wonder if you had been dropped. Now you hear the open the same as everybody listening.
Losing the line while you were waiting to get on the air used to send you to the back of the queue. Now you keep your spot when you call back.
Callers were coming through doubled, or too loud one minute and too quiet the next. We fixed the doubling and evened out the levels so everyone lands at about the same volume.
We also softened the tone you hear when the screener picks you up, and regular callers now get a welcome back instead of the first-timer greeting.
No login, no app store, no waiting. Open the player and you are listening.
If you want it closer to hand, add it to your home screen and it opens like an app. There is a call-in button right on the player too, so you can get on the air without hanging up and dialing.
Dial in and you will hear a short greeting, then hold until the screener picks you up. When it is your turn you go straight on the air.
If we already have your number on file, you come in by name instead of as an unknown caller.
Between live shows the station keeps going with past episodes instead of going quiet, so there is always something on.
Each show also opens with its own intro now.
